A Jenga-like home by Modernist architects Buff & Hensman has gone on sale in the US city of Pasadena.

Hollis House was built in 1978 in the blocky style latterly adopted by the Southern California practice, known for its post-and-beam designs. It’s been in the same family ever since and is now offered for sale, virtually untouched, for the first time.

Inside, the three-bedroom property features a double-height living room and 10ft glass doors that tumble out onto a private terrace, overlooking the San Gabriel mountains and Annandale golf course.

Elsewhere, original cabinetry and fireplaces have been retained, as well as the skylights and exposed beams across the 2,2877 sq ft property.

Hollis House is on the market for $1.45m and its new owner will have to spend a chunk of change giving the property a refresh. But they’ll be buying a local landmark with strong bone structure.
