Celebrated California duo Buff and Hensman designed this Pasadena property, which has emerged from an extensive revamp that polishes its midcentury bones.

The 2,304 sq ft house at 300 Anita Drive dates from 1959 and is located in the popular San Rafael Hills neighbourhood. It has undergone modernisation before being listed for sale via Compass for $2.955m. However, the post-and-beam home still has its quintessential modernist features, especially in the living room, where a colossal fieldstone fireplace almost reaches the beamed ceiling and clerestory windows.

The kitchen is all new: white veined marble counters, a large central island, and patinated tiles offer texture in a restrained colour palette that contrasts dark wood cabinetry and wide plank flooring.

Rooms, including three bedrooms, have floor-to-ceiling glazing and impressive views of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Compass agent Lauren Reichenberg holds the listing—peek inside the midcentury Los Angeles property.
