Stalla d’Immez has stood in the Swiss alpine village of Santa Maria Val Müstair since the 17th century. In 2020, its owners began converting the former barn into a home in consultation with the Grisons Heritage Office.

The old agricultural structure remains immediately visible. Stone walls and lime plaster were retained, along with traces of Gothic ornamentation, and the spruce and larch roof still rises eight metres above the former hayloft.

Most of the 151sqm home occupies this open upper volume. Old floorboards were reused to form a raised platform, with polished concrete covering parts of the lower floor. The barn’s original hay track remains in place overhead.

The kitchen, dining and living areas occupy the main space, with a freestanding stove beneath the timber roof. Two sleeping areas are positioned on separate levels and connected by a steel staircase. From the upper level, windows look towards the peaks of Piz Lad and Piz Terza.

The former stable has largely been preserved below and is identified in the listing as potential expansion space.

The chalet is for sale through Poeticwalls for CHF 990,000.
