The Amon Marshall Homestead in Pound Ridge, New York, dates back to around 1769. Successive generations added to the house, which has recently undergone a restoration of its timber structure, historic doors and fireplaces. It is now on the market for $3.2 million.

Hand-hewn beams remain exposed across the interiors. Wood-panelled walls and wood floors in wide-plank and herringbone formation sit among newly finished surfaces in Venetian plaster and lime wash. The kitchen has Cristallo marble worktops, custom cabinetry and an AGA range.

The 3,771sqft house has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, including a ground-floor bedroom and an upstairs principal suite.

Its 3.5-acre grounds include lawns, woodland, stone walls and a pond. The work also encompassed the garden, where established planting was revived, stone walls repaired and the pond restored. A cedar-shake barn stands separately from the house.
