This Swedish health spa village, with its Dutch gabled wooden architecture, autumnal shades and model village looks, would fit in nicely in one of Wes Anderson’s films.

The historic Sätra Brunn resort was set up in the 18th century by doctor Samuel Skragge on the site of a high-quality freshwater spring. Encompassing 70 buildings and 143-acres of open land and forest, the Västmanland estate is for sale for £5.9 million with Christie International Real Estate’s affiliate Residence.

Inside its picturesque timber homes and hotel, there is a vintage vibe, created by an array of pastel hues, chintz wallpaper and whitewashed timber cladding. Meanwhile, the wellness centre’s spring-fed therapeutic bathhouse and spa are beneath a high half-pitched roof.
