It seems the United Arab Emirates is increasingly favouring minimalism’s ‘less is more’ aesthetic – especially when it comes to tranquillity-inducing wellness spaces.

Dubai-based studio Roar designed the interiors of the new Sensasia Stories at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. The concept is rooted in Pan-Asian origins and evokes traditional architectural elements while revealing natural materials, a muted colour palette and textural, tonal finishes.

‘The design process for Sensasia Stories was an exercise in restraint for me,’ states Pallavi Dean, founder and creative director of Roar. ‘We have purposefully not overpowered the senses; instead, this is a place of quiet, respite and reflection.’
