The architectural inspirations of Game of Thrones

Fans of dragons, White Walkers and Tyrion Lannister – pay attention. The production designer for Game of Thrones, restarting this weekend, took Curbed on a tour of architecture that inspired sets in the show, including Khaleesi’s palace, which is based on Frank Lloyd Wright’s Mayan Revival buildings.

Moleskine has also jumped on the Game of Thrones bandwagon by recreating the show’s opening title in a way only a stationer could. The brand enlisted the help of animation studio Dadomani to bring to life a model of King’s Landing, made from 7,600 paper cut-outs.
