Love ogres and organic architecture? Shrek’s Swamp home is available in the Scottish Highlands this October via Airbnb, and it’s a real-life fairytale idyll.

It’s over 20 years since Shrek scooped the 2002 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, catapulting the green ogre, Fiona, Donkey and Puss in Boots into pop culture history. Now, fans can spend two nights at his ‘treehouse’ as part of the giveaway, bringing up to three guests from 27-29 October.

Like its animated counterpart, the Swamp house is ultra ‘ rustic’ with a double bed, an open fireplace for keeping warm, and earth floors and mud-plastered walls. And, of course, Shrek’s famous outhouse is a hop-skip-and-a-jump away.

Donkey is ‘hosting’ the free stay, and bookings for the fairytale stay open at 6 pm BST on October 13 2023. One thing to note: transport to and from Scotland isn’t included in the stay.
