Neutra watch: midcentury fans can choose from a trio of Richard Neutra-designed midcentury properties for sale or rent this month in Los Angeles. These include a time-capsule modernist home that’s never been on the market before and a cubic home that’s stacked onto a hillside plot.

Named after its owner, Mr Magoo co-creator and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Millard Kaufman, this 1949 home bears the hand of three major Modernist architects: Richard Neutra, Alexander Ban and Josef Van der Kar. The Sale Residence is among Neutra’s lesser-known projects and was built in 1960 for Elsa and Robert Sale. It sits on North Tigertail Road in Brentwood and is on the market for the first time ever. Signature Neutra features include floor-to-ceiling sliding glass walls, wood panelling and bespoke cabinetry. Elsa Sale was a Dutch-born artist and she created a number of original mosaics and artworks inside the home, which have been preserved. Per the listing, it will need a little bit of a polish here and there, but the Sale House is in time-capsule condition.
