Rejoice, Muji fans – the minimalist Japanese lifestyle brand is set to open a Tokyo hotel in early 2019.

MUJI Hotel in Ginza will be the brand’s first Japanese hotel when it opens its doors in the Ginza 3-chome area of the city, reports Spoon & Tomago – and it will sit atop its biggest international flagship store.

Muji Hotel, Ginza is expected to fill the top three-and-a-half floors of a new 10-storey building being jointly-developed by Mitsui Fudosan and Yomiuri Shimbun in the Tokyo neighbourhood, famous for its shopping and entertainment offerings. UDS will operate the hotel.

But it won’t be Muji’s first hotel ever – that honour goes to the hotly anticipated Muji Hotel in Shenzhen, China, which is expected to complete later this year. The 79-bedroom hotel will be furnished with recycled wood and furnished with Muji products, and the Tokyo outpost is expected to follow suit.

If you fancy living the Muji lifestyle off-grid, the brand’s 9 sq m tiny home is expected to go on sale in Japan this autumn, with international distribution to follow.
