First we had Drake’s James Turrell-inspired video and now we have an Adele performance that takes cues from a Yayoi Kusama installation.

The British singer was filmed inside the Japanese artist’s ‘Infinity Mirrored Room – The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away’, housed at The Broad museum in LA, and the footage was used as a backdrop for her BRITs performance last week.

‘I definitely feel like standing in that room for an hour,’ Adele said in a video posted by the museum. ‘I saw things in myself and of myself I haven’t noticed before.’

Visitors to The Broad are only allowed to stay in Kusama’s mirror-lined chamber installation for 45 seconds, but Adele managed to wrangle a bit more recording time.

Added the singer: ‘I decided that I would love for this to be a part of my “When We Were Young” performance at the BRIT Awards in the UK because you kind of see different versions of yourself from every angle and “When We Were Young” is kind of based on my life from childhood up until now.’

Adele has another pop star to thank for the inspiration, revealing that she only discovered Kusama’s work after coming across one of Katy Perry’s Instagram posts.
