Glampers can soon experience a new campground of Studio Ghibli-style lodges and tents bringing a taste of hygge to the forests of Uga Valley in Japan.

Hygge Circles Ugakei will be located an hour’s shinkansen journey from the city of Nagoya, in a densely wooded area that some have compared to the fictional forest of Princess Mononoke.

Set to open in 2021, it’s a joint venture by the Danish embassy and outdoor company Nordisk, with early renders showing glowing cabins nestled into the trees, by the side of mountain streams.

As well as the local waterfalls and mountain views, guests will be able to visit a hygge nature field – although details on what this will involve are yet to be announced.
