If you fancy sampling the life of a Parisian artist, now’s your chance. The former home and studio of French sculptor César is available to rent.

The artist became known for his Nouveau Réalisme ‘compressions’, such as his sculptures of crushed cars. He also lends his name to the trophies awarded in the French equivalent of the Oscars, the Césars, which he designed.

His former studio space in the city’s 5th arrondissement – down a cobbled alley just south of the city’s Luxembourg Gardens – is now a converted family home.

There’s an open-plan living and kitchen area as well as a mezzanine level with the master bedroom.

Plenty of references remain to the home’s artistic heritage, including the myriad of artwork around the place as well as the paint splatters on the staircase and on wooden beams.

The César Residence, which sleeps up to six, is available to rent from €300 a night via Kid & Coe.
