3 bedrooms; $1.385m via Susan Pillon of Nick Sadek Sotheby’s International Realty

Architect John Harvey Carter designed this single-storey  Sacramento property in 1968, envisaging a pavilion wrapped around an elegant reflecting pool. Interiors have been given a refresh ahead of its sale, but the house has been owned by the same family since construction with the layout broken up by ‘floating’ wooden walls and clerestory windows. Get a closer look.
