There’s an ultra-modern extension hiding behind the facade of this 200-year-old Buckinghamshire home, which is on the market for £1.5m.

Although its high street entrance still resembles the coaching house it once was, the building has been completely renovated. Architects Aldington, Craig and Collinge designed its glass-framed extension, as well as a pair of separate buildings which can be used as a workshop and studio, or additional living spaces.

The main house includes an open-plan dining and kitchen area, as well as a living room and study. A second mezzanine living area is accessed via a wood and glass staircase.

The three-bedroom home – listed with The Modern House – also features a sunken garden by Chelsea Gold Award winner Andy Sturgeon. The rolling landscape of the Chiltern Hills is nearby, while London’s Marylebone is a 45-minute train journey.
