Fashion designer Elie Tahari is selling his oceanfront barn home in the Hamptons for a hefty $45m.

The Iranian-Israeli creative bought the three-bedroom Sagaponack property back in 2005, and it sits on a 2.5 acre parcel of land with 250-ft of beach frontage.

Its main volume is a 100-year old barn, with original timber beams and soaring ceilings. Housing the combined kitchen, dining room and living room, it has been adapted via rolling glass walls that open it up to the property’s gardens, complete with 60ft-long lap pool and outdoors dining terrace.

The master bedroom suite takes up the entire second level of the Hamptons property – on the market via agents Keith Green and Ann Ciardullo of Sotheby’s International Realty. It has a private terrace with Atlantic views.

But if 4,500 sq ft seems a bit on the small side, fear not: 135 Crestview Lane comes with partially approved plans to extend its floorplate to a generous 10,000 sq ft. Practice Stelle LoMont Rouhani Architects – who created Calvin Klein’s oceanfront Southampton bolthole – has designed the addition, which will add an extra five bedrooms, a spa and media room.

Sagaponack is favourite haunt for the east coast’s well-heeled, and earlier this summer Tahari rented the estate out for $800,000.
