Skeletons of Rome’s ancient monuments formed the ethereal backdrop to Kim Jones’s Spring 2022 Haute Couture Collection for Fendi, with the city’s famous arches and doric columns, taking on a sci-fi glow, courtesy of Bureau Betak.

Architectural elements representing every era of the Eternal City’s evolution were translated into 3D wire blocks and suspended from the ceiling to create a reimagined cityscape.

Models, wearing gowns hand-painted with ancient Roman statues by Kim Jones, emerged at the back of the stage, stepping out from a vertical column of rolling clouds – a montage by Walter Films.

Stage lights highlighted the 3D outlines of the ‘buildings’ and shimmered on sequin-adorned garments and sweeping floor-length gowns with magnificent trains. Textures and fabrics also paid subtle homage to the texture of Rome’s building materials, and the pavements of the city.
