26 May 2020: Design fair Biennale Interieur is among the latest events cancelled by Coronavirus, with its organisers announcing the Belgian festival won’t return until next year.

Hosted in the Flemish city of Kortrijk every other year, the interior design festival draws around 50,000 visitors. The five-day event was due to take place in October, but the impact of Covid-19 has wreaked havoc with its planning.

‘What initially looked like a pause, has turned out to be a bigger-than-anticipated reset’, explained the Biennale Interieur’s organisers in a statement announcing the fair’s move to October 2021.

The Belgian designer of the year award, which is part of the event, will still go ahead later this year, and the organisers say they’re developing an ‘intense and more professional programme’ for next year’s festival.
