Ocean views abound at this Danish holiday home, which sits on the pebbly shore of Samsø island.

The island home is part of a line of thatched cottages along the seafront and is surrounded by hilly landscape. Its compact floorplan measures just 151 sqm, but huge windows bring in natural light and look out over the nearby rock formations, as well as the ocean.

Owners that enjoy soaking in the tub can survey the views from the glass-fronted bathroom, and maybe catch a glimpse of the local wildlife, which includes deer, seals, and porpoises.

The Danish property – listed with Adam Schnack for 4.7m DKK – needs an update, but its timber floors and wooden beams mean there’s plenty to work with. The nearby town of Nordby, is seven minutes drive away, or a half hour’s walk and the island is connected to the mainland by a ferry service.
