A jewel-coloured Sydney loft designed by JFORM heads to auction

Peach, green and golden timbers

Aussie firm JFORM is best known for its commercial designs, outfitting Sydney’s restaurants and stores. This warehouse conversion showcases the practice’s work on a more intimate, domestic scale.

The Surry Hills loft is located within a landmark redbrick warehouse from 1912, used originally for the rag trade. It underwent award-winning adaptive reuse and is now home to apartments, with restaurants, cafes and boutiques on ground level.

Huge arched windows and soaring five-metre-high ceilings are a signature of the building, with JFORM adopting a jewel-toned palette for its intervention inside this free-flowing one-bedroom loft.

A soft-peachy pink colour scheme spills out from the kitchen, fitted with emerald green tiles, imported Italian marble countertops, fluted timber cabinets, and a colossal, custom-designed island.

Wood panels recall the heritage of the landmark building, while tiled details inject colour and texture. And the fluted motif continues across the side of the staircase, connecting the living room area to the lofted bedroom above, with built-ins and an ensuite.

BresicWhitney is marketing the one-bedroom Sydney property, with the price on application. It goes under the hammer at 3:45 pm on 17 June 2023.
