Completed in 1928, this Jacobean Tudor Revival estate in Pasadena was designed by Morgan, Walls & Clements for the Bernard family before becoming known to millions as the exterior of Wayne Manor in the original Batman television series.

The seven-bedroom residence spans 18,655 square feet across 4.84 acres overlooking the Arroyo Seco. Its castellated tower, slate rooflines and leaded-glass windows remain defining features of the house, while period detailing has been preserved throughout the interiors.

The grounds combine rolling lawns, mature oak trees and landscaped gardens with more recent additions including a swimming pool, pickleball court and private theatre. Together they create a secluded setting that feels removed from the city, despite lying just a short drive from downtown Pasadena.

While its appearances on screen have secured its place in popular culture, the estate is equally notable as an example of Southern California’s interwar domestic architecture. Originally featured in Architectural Digest, it remains one of Pasadena’s defining historic estates.

The property is on the market through Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California and MAISONRE, for US$32 million.
