Wellness gets technical at New York’s Remedy Place

Pioneering spa centre Remedy Place has opened up for treatment in New York, with hyperbaric chambers and ice baths embedded into a strikingly brutalist set of interiors.

Located in the city’s Flatiron District, the wellness hub blends cutting-edge tech with minimal aesthetics. The space is designed to help people relax and recover, billing itself as the world’s ‘first social wellness club’.

Remedy Place is laid out to encourage visitors to interact and embark on treatments together, such as vitamin drips on the curvaceous velvet sofas of the spa’s lounge area or an infrared session in the six-person sauna.

Every aspect of the wellness centre is intended to support guests’ health, from custom-designed seating that offers proper back support to electromagnetic field-blocking materials and the spa’s custom soundscape. Rooms are cocooned in concrete walls and soft charcoal grey textiles.

The Flatiron hub is the second Remedy Place outpost (there’s already one in West Hollywood), and it offers a range of treatments, including hyperbaric chambers, cryotherapy and ice baths, with membership starting at $595 per month.
