Architect Albert Martin originally designed this 1952 hillside home in Los Angeles’ Silverlake, which is rumoured to belong to Ghostbusters star Kristen Wiig. She’s said to have enlisted practices Taalman Architecture and The Agency to overhaul and expand the modernist home, which retains its original floor plan and features including floor-to-ceiling glass, wooden walls and cement stone finishes. Halloween might be over but this gothic manse is primed for all seasons. Built in a Tudor style, the Dumbarton home dates to 1869 and is packed with ornamental details including carved Corinthian columns and ornate stained glass windows by the same artists who worked on Glasgow Cathedral. It’s currently used as a nursing home and is pitched as a possible commercial investment — or a rather lavish family home.
