Carved stonework and a Renaissance-era mural feature inside this Italian villa – set on a hilltop in South Florence.

The 1420s property has a series of empty stone rooms – the grandest of which is a double-height galleried hall with an open staircase and painted ceiling. Its exterior meanwhile features a columned loggia with a balcony above.

The Tuscan house features a partially destroyed ‘Dancing Nudes’ wall painting by Antonio del Pollaio, and it was owned by the Lanfredini family, who frequently hosted the scientist Galileo.

Villa Majestic, as the Florence property has been dubbed, is being sold via Knight Frank in its current condition as a renovation challenge or finished to the buyer’s specification. As well as 400 sq m of living space, it has views over olive groves and comes with two hectares of shared land.
