Cantonese cuisine is served amid Arizona-Inspired interiors

The warm and rusty hues of the Arizona desert inspire the interiors of Hong Kong’s 1111 Ones Restaurant and Lounge – winner of the 2022 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.

Located at On Lan Street, the Cantonese restaurant is a collaboration between chef Will Leung and landscape photographer Kelvin Yuen, designed by local practice M.R. Studio. Yuen’s travels across North America, and particularly the picturesque Antelope Canyon in Arizona, find expression in the swooping arches, curves and lines of the space inspired by the geological formations of the canyon.

1111 Ones takes its name from the repetitive number sequence, which in numerology and spirituality denotes new beginnings and enlightenment. This sense of origin and natural order is echoed across the interior’s undulating curves and fluid forms.

Burnt orange tones sweep from the entrance to the brass elements of the bar and dining room, where hand-painted copper hues are topped by a swooping wave-like ceiling inspired by rock formations of the canyon.

Leung’s 1111 Ones scooped the accolade for ‘best overall restaurant’ in the 2022 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards’.
