Seattle’s Supernova nightclub unashamedly embraces disco glitz

Muutus Studio has transformed a Seattle warehouse space into a nightclub, creating an ‘otherworldly experience’ of neon lights, bright colours and plenty of mirror balls.

Guests can get a sense of Supernova’s disco credentials as soon as they step into the club’s funhouse-style entrance hall, which is wrapped in mirror panelling and pink and green neons.

The carnival atmosphere continues elsewhere in the two-floor building – located in Seattle’s SODO neighbourhood – with Supernova’s lounge marked out by wavy panels in bright colours and its dance floor painted in a black and white op-art spiral.

DJs perform from a booth shaped like a mirror ball cut in half, and more clusters of disco balls cast flashes of light across the club’s interiors. The kitsch and whimsy don’t stop there either, with Muutus installing artworks throughout Supernova – including a rearing unicorn sculpture and a repurposed VW bus that now serves as a bar.
