With a sign so discreet you’d almost miss it, The Place Firenze doesn’t shout about its existence – instead, the five-star Florence hotel lets its interiors and service do the talking.
Located in Santa Maria Novella neighbourhood, the five-star hotel is conceived as a private residence in the heart of the city and is part of the family-run hotel group, The Hospitality Experience. It was previously known as J.K. Place Firenze but has been rebranded in 2021 and has undergone a top-to-toe refresh led by Luigi Fragola Architects.
Fragola has leaned into heritage and locate when designing the intimate, 20-room bolthole, which echoes the experience of a home-from-home. There’s no sterile reception; instead, you enter via a ‘living room’, outfitted with sofas, armchairs and a fireplace, while the reception desk is in a library.

Rooms are decorated in warm greens and earthy tones said to riff on the city’s colour palette, especially its copper roofs and fountains, and there are a number of lounges and shared guest areas, including a rooftop terrace that offers impressive views of the city.
Bedrooms are spread across four floors and start from €434 per night. They share a soft, neutral aesthetic with soft green highlights.
While the Florence hotel doesn’t have a gym or spa amenities, it does have a superb restaurant led by in-house chef Asso Migliore and an al fresco dining terrace facing Santa Maria Novella.
