Elton John is selling his long-term Atlanta base for $5m

He’s had a home in the city since the early 1990s, but now popstar Elton John is letting go of his sprawling Atlanta condo.

The four-bedroom apartment is listed for $5m with realtor Chase Mizell and is actually six separate units knocked together to create one giant mega-pad located high above Atlanta. It makes the most of its views via sliding glass doors that open onto wraparound balconies.

As you might expect from the singer, the space offers plenty of drama, including a two-storey dining room, an onyx-clad bathroom and a living space with double-height windows overlooking the city. Naturally, there’s also a room for his grand piano.

There’s also an enormous set of closets and no less than five wine storage units.

The Atlanta property’s interiors are an eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional, with classic built-in bookshelves and arched entryways taking the edge off glass and steel balustrades and mirror panelling.

John and his Canadian husband, David Furnish, recently bought a penthouse apartment atop Toronto’s King West condo development, designed by Bjarke Ingels’ firm BIG. The complex mimics a tree-covered hillside and is currently under construction.
