A home in the clouds: peek inside Conran and Partners’s Sky Gallery at Canada Water

Conran and Partners has combined contemporary design with artful living at a new ‘home in the clouds’ in London’s Canada Water.

A two-bedroom apartment on the 15th floor of The Founding, a 35-storey residential tower at British Land’s 53-acre Canada Water redevelopment, The Sky Gallery mixes soft lighting and flowing fabrics with exposed concrete ceilings to create a romantic design with a nod to the former dock’s industrial history.

Designed to feel like a ‘journey through a gallery’, the apartment is packed full of carefully curated artworks by the likes of Ian Davenport and David Hockney and features statement pieces of furniture, including a Gerrit Thomas Rietveld Zig Zag chair and the Brutus Stool, a sculptural piece inspired by traditional Japanese woodworking.

Architecture and interior design practice Conran and Partners will oversee the interiors of all 186 apartments and communal amenity spaces at The Founding, part of the first phase of the wider Allies and Morrison-designed Canada Water masterplan, completing this summer.

Simon Kincaid, partner at Conran and Partners, said: ‘We have imagined how a high-profile creative would live at The Founding. The design is aspirational and romantic, with soft layers of contemporary furniture and fabrics providing a backdrop for a curated art collection.’
