Candy-coloured beach house by Hogarth Architects lists for £775,000 in Cornwall

An ‘upside down’ townhouse painted in vivid colours has gone on sale in Cornwall, UK.

Hogarth Architects designed the six-bedroom home – on sale in Bude for £775,000 via Aucoot – as part of a four-house development, putting a modern spin on the surrounding Victorian houses and traditional beach huts.

Views dictate the floor plan inside the Cornish property, which looks onto a golf course and is a few minutes walk from Crooklets beach. A double-height living room and Poggenpohl kitchen sits on the top floor, kitted out with a wood burning stove and bespoke long shuttered concrete shelf.

There’s also a decked terrace that looks out over the sea, and a mezzanine area above the living area, which could be used as a studio space.

Bedrooms are tucked across the lower floors, accessed via a bespoke steel and birch-faced ply staircase designed by the practice.

The Cornwall property scores high on the sustainability front too thanks to insulation, A-rated glazing and a mechanical ventilation and heat recovery system.

Bude has some of the UK’s best beaches, including Northcott Mouth, Summerleaze, Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven, and was the Sunday Times’ picks of ‘best seaside town 2016′.
