A rare Matti Suuronen-designed Futuro House has been turned into a holiday home in Somerset, with the sci-fi structure now residing in ancient woodland near Frome.

The UFO-style homes were first designed in 1968, and there’s reportedly only 60 or so of the pods left today. They’re easily recognised by their circular shape, porthole windows, and drop-down staircase – all of which lend the tiny home an enjoyable sci-fi atmosphere.

This turquoise model was rescued by owner and artist Craig Barnes, who bought and transported it back from Port Alfred, South Africa, fixed its broken door and windows, and restored the entire home.

The restored Futuro House has previously popped up in several places, including the rooftop of London’s Central Saint Martins, with Somerset its latest stopping off point. It’s located in Marston Park, in Frome, the pod is available for guests to rent for £400 per night. There’s space for two, and guests can enjoy the throwback 60s interiors, as well as lakeside views and a nearby firepit.
