Sleep well and eat even better at this farm-stay in Veneto

If you go to the Italian lake district seeking the sort of slow lifestyle enjoyed by locals, you’ll appreciate this new boutique agriturismo, which invites you to stay on a family property.

Listed for rent with The Aficionados, Corte Pravecchio is a boutique retreat eight miles from Italy’s popular Lake Garda, surrounded by agricultural fields, ancient vineyards and historic charm. Its six suites have been carved out of an 18th-century family home and the adjacent farm buildings, each with private terraces. These now include a new guesthouse constructed from a disused stable using sustainable hemp bricks.

The latter was created by design studio RURALURBAN with soothing, Nordic-inspired minimalism. Inside are handcrafted pieces from Carl Hansen & Søn, a MG501 Cuba Chair by Morten Gøttler, several asymmetric Sideways Sofas by Rikke Frost, portable lamps by Vuelta, understated accents from Muuto and a Granny candleholder designed by Rudi Wulff for Northern.

The owner-residents have ensured all guests have access to the surrounding meadows and vineyards, as well as a swimming pool and menagerie of farm animals. But the heart of the experience is undoubtedly the elevated farm-to-table Italian-style dining. Known as ‘tavolata’, a gathering of guests and family at the communal table, it honours home-grown produce, fruit from the orchards, Veronese meats and cheeses, and organic wines from the property’s own cellar.

Corte Pravecchio is located 30 minutes from Verona airport and 10 minutes from the charming town of Valeggio sul Mincio.
