Melbourne church conversion offers heavenly digs in Northcote

Peering from its position atop Ruckers Hill in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote, this former Methodist church has been turned into a family home of heavenly proportions.

Northcote Hall dates from the 1880s when it was built as a methodist chapel and later used as a Salvation Army citadel. The neoclassical building was converted by its current owners into a four-bedroom home, hidden behind a stately but patinated plaster facade with Corinthian columns, pediments and swooping arched windows.

Inside, the living room and dining room have soaring ceilings that nod to be building’s former life, while doors open onto a flowing outdoor deck and garden.

The Melbourne property heads to auction on 5 November 2022, with a guide price of $2.8 – $3m AUD via Nelson Alexander, and it’s been turning heads on our Instagram account in the meantime. Take a proper peep inside.
