Gallerist Rossana Orlandi and Etro design a new bistro in Milan

Food meets design inside new Milan haunt Aimo e Nadia bistRo – a collaboration between chefs Alessandro Negrini and Fabio Pisani, gallerist Rossana Orlandi and Etro.

The new eatery – just next door to Milan Design Week favourite Galleria Rossana Orlandi on via Matteo Bandello – is the second restaurant from owner Stefania Moroni and the Michelin-starred chefs. Orlandi coaxed them there after visiting Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia in zona Lorenteggio.

The chefs told Dissapore: ‘One evening she came to visit us at [Aimo e Nadia], she was very impressed by our kitchen, especially by the Etruscan soup, but she also told us that we are too far out of the way, in the suburbs!’

Orlandi has curated design pieces by the likes of Mayice Studio, Piet Hein Eek, and Nika Zupanc inside the two-level space, which acts as an extension of her gallery. Meanwhile Etro has provided the fabrics. Green walls are juxtaposed with a riot of paisley and floral prints, ornaments and objects, many of which are for sale.

Food is of course Italian and shares the same philosophy cultivated at the original restaurant, based on high-quality local ingredients. Dishes include Veal tartare, fresh pasta and field salads.
