Maserati has enlisted one of the world’s most famous footballers for its first Fuoriserie Essentials collection, inviting David Beckham to design two models.

The Italian luxury car manufacturer says that Beckham’s curation for the special edition supercars is driven by his interest in ‘sartorial suits and classic cars’ – in particular, his love of two vintage Maserati models: the 1967 Ghibli and the 1986 Royale.

Beckham designed the cars using the manufacturer’s Fuoriserie tool, which allows existing models to be customised with paint colours, livery, upholstery and wheels. But if that feels like a lot of effort, both of Beckham’s designs are available to order as is and come in a deep ‘Night Interaction’ blue or a Verde Royale green.

They’re the first in the Fuoriserie Essentials line, which is set to be a series of cars created by celebrity designers, all intended to show off the possibilities of the Fuoriserie configurator.
