Sintra is Portugal’s UNESCO-listed town, known for its palaces and mist-covered hills, and Villa Dégaud sits just a few miles away. The 19th-century manor has rare scale and character, with 735sqm of interior space on a 924sqm plot with an expansive garden looking onto the coastal landscape. It is currently priced for sale at €3.6m.

Approved for redevelopment, the mansion has 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms defined by soaring ceilings and generous proportions. They could be transformed into boutique pousada lodging with nine to eleven suites and an additional upper floor, bringing the total built area to around 1,000sqm. The current plans preserve the manor’s historic façade and adapt the interiors for contemporary hospitality or private residential use.

A central fireplace and tall windows frame light-filled interiors that open towards the garden, where the building’s aristocratic presence meets the region’s lush setting. Lisbon is only 30 minutes away.
