Artist Liza Lou’s 1930s home and studio is for sale in LA County

American visual artist Liza Lou’s 1930s home is on sale for $2.495m in Los Angeles County – and it features barn-like spaces.

According to listing agent Oliver Ferra, Lou bought the wooden property from its original owner, who was a wood craftsman. They meticulously constructed the four-bedroom home, dubbed The Art House, in the Topanga Canyon area of the Santa Monica Mountains, which is known for its vibrant arts scene.

An open-plan layout and a pitched roof create high volumes in the house’s main living space. Poured polished concrete covers the floor while a cathedral-like window pours light into the room.

The California property includes a large artist’s studio, a cottage and a pavilion with an outdoor Japanese bath. Also on the landscaped grounds is a Koi carp pond, redwood trees and a cactus garden.
