Artist Ayako Rokkaku is taking over London’s Old Session House for 24-hours of live painting

Watch live on 23 November 2022

Fans of Japanese artist Ayako Rokkaku can get an up-close look at her studio process on 23 November 2022 when she begins a 24-hour-commission at London’s Old Session House that will be live-streamed around the world.

The brief event is presented by marketplace Avante Arte and will see Rokkaku paint a new, site-specific artwork within the former courthouse’s grand interiors, now revived as an art-filled restaurant and event space. Viewers can watch along on Avant Arte’s website – and order a print edition of the artwork she creates in that time period.

‘I’m looking forward to being able to share my process with people around the world whilst I paint live at such a wonderful location and to open up access to so many new people through this new print edition,’ says Rokkaku. The self-taught London-based artist has gained a cult following for her colourful, dream-like artworks, which draw on Japan’s kawaii culture and see her apply paint directly to the canvas using her hands.

Rokkaku will start painting at 10 am GMT on 23 November 2022 – head to Avante Arte’s website to watch live.
