The 500-capacity club also includes a concert venue, café, restaurant, gym and exhibition space.

The team behind the successor to Amsterdam’s Trouw has revealed full details of the previously mooted club, which opens in January 2016.

As RA reports, De School is located in a former technical school on Dr. Jan van Breemenstraat in Amsterdam’s west, and also incorporates a 200-capacity concert venue, a restaurant, a café, an exhibition space and a gym.

The 500-capacity club space occupies the school’s old bicycle storage area, and features a DJ booth situated in the crowd. The club will handle all its bookings in-house with a strong focus on local DJs, though international guests will also appear.

‘We don’t have a fixed group of residents because we want to keep things open, so new things can happen,’ De School programmer Luc Mastenbroek told RA.

The club has a 24-hour license, and will be open seven days a week. Regarding the opening hours, Mastenbroek said: ‘We’re gonna start off slowly, all nights will have an open end but they won’t go on forever.’

‘Sometimes a night will end around 5 AM, on very good nights it might be 9 AM or 10 AM. We’re striving for a culture where people can come for 24 hours to dance, eat good food in our restaurant, chill out in the garden and see cool exhibitions, but we’ll have to build that up first.’

De School’s opening party takes place on January 3, with the line-up yet to be announced. The first two months of guests will see Amsterdam selectors Tom Trago, Makam, Dekmantel Soundsystem, Job Jobse and Young Marco on the bill with Seth Troxler, DJ Sotofett, Shanti Celeste, Kornél Kovács and Barnt.

Trouw closed its doors in December 2014 after the building it was housed in reached the end of its temporary five-year license.
