Red shag-pile carpet, a three-storey fire pole, indoor swing and arcade games all nod to this Vermont property’s playful past as a weekend party pad.

The four-bedroom Killington geodesic dome home was constructed in 1969 as a secondary residence and has been in the same family since says listing agent Heidi Bomengen of Prestige Real Estate of Killington.

Spread over 3,274 sq ft, living spaces have a bold primary-colour aesthetic that’s definitely stuck in the 1970s. However, the dome home is an intriguing renovation challenge – if you can see past the dodgy decor.

Exterior and interior walls will need redoing, and the Killington home is being sold ‘as is’ for $425,000. According to Realtor, the dome’s original architect is interested in working on the project, and there are plenty of original features to work with.

Posts and beams cross every space, while the living room has a circular wood-burning fireplace and triangular windows. Another quirky feature is the ‘submarine’ style doors, which access bedrooms.

One of the most enticing selling points is its proximity to the Great Eastern Ski Bridge: the Vermont home sits on a wooded one-acre plot with views of the mountains.
