The 145 sq m bolthole sits inside a historic villa in Monte Estoril, around 25km west of Lisbon. The coastal enclave is known for its Atlantic views, pristine beaches and historic mansions from the 19th and 20th centuries and is a popular spot for those wishing to escape the hustle of Lisbon.

Astolfi and Ruivo renovated the two-bedroom apartment in 2022, blending original features with modern finishes. Period mouldings, high ceilings, and wooden shutters feature alongside fresh, bespoke joinery and lighting design, such as custom shelving and a display gallery in the hallway. The open-plan kitchen and living room are orientated towards the garden and views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The water inspires the soothing turquoise tones in the primary bedroom suite. It connects to a dressing room and spa bathroom with twin basins and a freestanding tub. The second bedroom is designed as a children’s room with a playful built-in bed and storage.
