Slope living gets a contemporary spin inside this Vemdalen ski chalet

Blonde timber and moody Scandinavian design combine inside this Swedish cabin on the slopes of Vamdalen, which reimagines the classic ski chalet as a minimalist retreat.

Developer 212 Property built the four-bedroom chalet – on the market for 6.35m KR via Maklarhuset – in Vemdalsskalet last year. It offers a stripped-back take on the alpine aesthetic: trusses and knotted pine have been ditched in favour of clean lines, pitched ceilings and waxed birch plywood walls.

The main living space is a ‘house inside a house’ with a double-height kitchen and living room that follows the contour of the roof. Rectangular picture windows look out across the valley below.

A ski storage room is located off the main entrance, while bedrooms are set throughout the chalet, with an additional sleeping loft above the living room.

Vemdalen has 50 km of cross-country trails for classic skiing and skating and 18 km of marked trails and, after a long day on the slopes, guests can warm up in the Swedish property’s private sauna.
