A penthouse flat in a listed Wilhelminian-era building in Berlin has landed on the market with Fantastic Frank. The 298-square-metre space, overlooking the Kreuzberg neighbourhood, is on the market for 2,940,000 euros.
Only the entrance, reached by a private lift, reflects the building’s historic turn-of-the-century aesthetic with its antique Hungarian Orosháza concrete tiles. The remaining spaces have been converted with a minimalist ethos that prioritises natural light and simplicity.
Carpenters from Bartmann Berlin created a highly functional kitchen with fitted cupboards under the stairs to the private roof terrace, premium appliances from Gaggenau, Neff and Berbel, and a Grohe Blue drinking water treatment system. This leads along underheated slate floors to living and dining areas with tall windows to the 37-square-metre terrace equipped with remote-control shades. Set back slightly by the kitchen is a library with a custom-made cherrywood bookcase that can be closed off by two internal sliding glass doors.

Custom-made built-in cupboards throughout offer plenty of storage and include a server cabinet for internet connections.
The apartment has four well-proportioned bedrooms bathed in light from windows equipped with blackout blinds. The principal bathroom has a free-standing tub and double shower. A staircase leads from the living areas to a 115-square-metre roof terrace with 360-degree panoramic views of the city. It has been fitted with a 58-square-metre sail that can be lowered diagonally towards the west for shade on hot days.
All historical elements of the wider building have been restored to their former glory.
