The original ‘Cabin Porn’ dwelling is for sale

Beaver Brook is a 53-acre estate that houses the rustic Scott’s cabin as well as a sleek black barn

The upstate New York home that inspired the ‘Cabin Porn movement’ and book has hit the market for $1.975 million with the Lillie K Team at Select Sotheby’s International Realty and Esteban Gomez at Compass.

In 2010, Zach Klein and his wife Courtney bought the 53-acre Barryville estate,  known as Beaver Brook. It included a rustic, dry cabin on forested land, which they restored but kept without power and running water, where they lived the cabin life, inspiring Klein to create cult-platform Cabin Porn, celebrating the great outdoors and off-grid living.

The New York property comprises a five-bedroom black barn, dubbed Bunkhouse, which the couple built from scratching using salvaged materials repurposed from an old 19th-century dairy barn.

It has cathedral-like living spaces, accentuated by a full-length chimney, as well as heated concrete floors and a steel staircase that floats up to the top floor where the bedrooms sit under the eaves.

Meanwhile, three off-grid cabins are dotted along the riverfront portion of the property, including ‘Half Tree House’ by JacobsChang Architecture, built using steel and glass.

The original post-and-beam dwelling that inspired it all, called Scott’s Cabin, is also located on the grounds.

Beaver Brook is under offer, though you can still peruse its inspiring interiors in the gallery above.
