Step into Jean-Luc Godard’s office – recreated at Fondazione Prada

Visitors to Milan’s Fondazione Prada can become Jean-Luc Godard for the day, thanks to a new exhibition which lets them spend time inside his fabled atelier.

The recreated space, which feels more like a living room than an office or editing suite, includes equipment used by the director for editing and mixing, as well as a mish-mash of furniture and rugs imported from his home in Switzerland. Artworks hung on walls and scattered throughout the atelier hint at some of Godard’s inspiration and creative process.

As well as letting guests wander through the office, which is entitled Le Studio d’Orphée, Fondazione Prada is screening Godard’s Le Livre d’image at various stages of editing, mixing and post-production. A series of short films will also be screened on monitors used by the director.

Le Studio d’Orphée is open from Wednesday to Monday each week, but devotees will have to time their visit carefully to catch Le Livre d’image, which is shown each day at 5 pm for a lucky five viewers.
