On Colville Mews in Notting Hill, this two-bedroom house occupies the footprint of two former garages, reconfigured by architects Arya Douge into a single double-fronted dwelling. Rather than maximise floor area, part of the upper level was removed to introduce a near six-metre void above the main living space, allowing daylight from the south-facing frontage to extend through the plan.

The interior is organised around this volume. A 12-metre-wide living space runs wall to wall beneath the double-height ceiling, with kitchen, dining and seating arranged in sequence. A curved staircase sits centrally, connecting the two levels.

Above, two bedroom suites are positioned at either end of the plan, set back from the void and overlooking the space below. Fluted glazing introduces borrowed light into enclosed areas. Materials are restrained, including limestone surfaces, timber joinery and bronze hardware.
Externally, the historic mews façade has been retained and restored in line with the surrounding conservation area.
It’s listed for sale with Domus Nova London for £2.25M.
