Kariouk Architects designed this striking woodland property deep in Ontario’s backcountry.

The steel-beamed structure has a dramatic pitched roof that appears to float above oversized glass panels, while exterior walls are clad in sleek, black slate shingles – a feature that continues inside the hallway, forging a connection to the exterior.

Interior designer Karin Bohn of House of Bohn created the interiors, which are understated despite their expensive material palette, which takes influence from the natural surroundings. Think black kitchen cabinetry, natural, earthy tones and plenty of wood.
