A new 51-room hotel is set to open this month in the foothills of Thira Mountain on the coast of Santorini.
Sandblu combines natural, pared-back simplicity, bare stone features, and modern design. Packing a geological punch inside and out, the Greek hotel is set just metres away from volcanic black sand beaches and offers panoramic views of the Aegean Sea.
The 27 rooms, 22 suites and two villas – designed by Rockwell and starting from £460 a night – are elegantly minimal, focusing on natural materials and light throughout. ‘Outside in’ is taken to another level with external showers flanked by slate grey exposed rock walls, and the earthen colour palette running through the residences is punctuated only by flashes of azure blue from the soft furnishings, woodwork and, in 17 out of the 51 rooms, private swimming pools.
In addition to the infinity pool, spa, and two on-site restaurants, Sandblu guests can access a wine bar, natural wine cellar cave, bakery, and kids’ club.
Leonidas Anagnostou, General Manager of Sandblu Santorini, says: ‘We aim to have our guests experience the island like locals, embracing an authentic, craftsman-like vibe. The team and I are incredibly excited to welcome our first guests.’
