Wave House in California’s Palm Desert, US

Photography: Tim Hirschmann

1 bedroom; POA direct
The Walter S White-designed Wave House has had a top-to-toe restoration by Stayner Architects, unveiled to the public for the first time at Palm Springs Modernism Week. The Miles C Bates House is better known as the ‘Desert Wave’ because of its ‘rollercoaster’ roofline. Its curvilinear silhouette mimics the rise and fall of the Santa Rosa Mountains in the distance. The 827 sq ft midcentury property will be available to rent from March. See inside.

Clocktower loft in Brooklyn, US

1 bedroom; $2.35m via Compass
The Clock Unit sits atop the 1892 Eagle Warehouse in Brooklyn and is named for the giant clock that takes pride of place in its living room. The Dumbo loft peeks out across the Brooklyn Bridge, Lower Manhattan and East River from behind its glass face. Other features include soaring 17-ft-high ceilings, exposed brickwork, and two enormous skylights flood the living room and bedroom with light. Take a look inside.

Early experimental Frank Lloyd Wright home in Chicago, US

Photography: Coldwell Banker

5 bedrooms; $175k via Coldwell Banker
This experimental Chicago house by Frank Lloyd Wright shows how the master architect experimented with Japanese influences. Its hoods and flared dormers were inspired partly by traditional pagodas, though its interiors have a more familiar character if you can dig deep enough to see it. Wood panels and trims are hidden under layers of paint while a bright red carpet conceals hardwood floors. Keep an open mind and get a closer look at this fixer-upper, which is priced to sell.
