Holiday home of the week: Atlas Villa
Via Welcome Beyond

Atlas Villa is a mountainside hideaway that offers contemporary design in the rustic setting of Morocco’s Tagadert Berber village.

The property comprises two guesthouses, both of which offer uninterrupted views across the nearby High Atlas Mountains.

Created by Studio KO – which recently completed the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech – Atlas Villa cuts a striking silhouette, composed of boxy volumes made from clay earth that echoes the arid landscape, and references local building traditions.

Its minimal exterior is punctuated by huge sliding glass doors that frame the rolling wheat fields, while inside the guesthouses are dotted with a mix of design classics and comfortable wicker furniture. Visitors to the property – available from €1,250 per night via Welcome Beyond – can expect to see local life on their doorstep, including shepherds leading herds past the villa.

Private gardens and wide terraces offer space to soak up the sun, and a 30-metre-long infinity pool is on hand for cooling midday dips. The villa has five bedrooms, all with en-suites, fireplaces and air conditioning.

For those looking for more liveliness, Marrakech is half an hour’s drive away, and a car and driver is available on request. There’s also potential day trips to the desert and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains – which offer skiing in the winter months.
